Q7: So many memories of Gordon Luff. Standing out on Front Porch as Elvira with hook man Gordon during Scare Mare, his patience and believing in a stubborn 17 year old (me), his enthusiam, energy and vision for both lost souls and college students who were under his leadership. His famous quote I remember: Believe in what you are doing and always keep God as the center of your focus.

Q8: Going to Korea with Youth Aflame gave me the passion to go back. I started my career by going back to Korea and working with Military Families, and have been working/designing programs for Soldiers and their Families for over 24 years in several different countries.

Q9: God continues to mold my life. Everyday appears to be a new adventure, some I learn from and others unfortunately takes awhile to learn. Thank goodness he never gives up on us. (sounds a lot like Gordon Luff) Thank God Gordon had the patience of Job and the prayers of Daniel to never give up on some of us.

Q10: Looking forward to reconnecting with old friends after so many years

Q1: David Adams

Q2:

Q3: Jeffersonville, Indiana

Q4: Youth Professor. Exec. Dir. Int'l Center for Youth & Family Ministry

Q5: Becky

Q6: Children: Jeremy, Joshua, Lindsay

Grand Children: Hunter, Anthony, G-Asia

Q7: 1973 youth conference. This was my confirmation call to youth ministry and the event that prompted Becky and I to move to Lynchburg and join the staff. Chirs Tice was a key; Gordon's message on the call to youth minsitry, Vernon Brewer's professionalism and heart for mobilizing teens to go to missions, Roscoe's World passion, etc,......

Q8: Dr. Falwell and Gordon have been used to affirm my calling to "recruit, train, place and network local church youth ministers globally". The "church is the labratory for training."
Between the two of them I was mentored in an environment that demands that we should be: FEARLESS, AND ATTEMPT THE "BIG THING" Step out in Faith. Very addictive stuff! I'm not over it yet.

Q9: Personal: Son Josh's open heart surgery, Son Jeremy's cancer, My father's death (his conversion months before his death)and offociating his funeral; Researching and completing dissertation documenting Youth Ministry as a movement Demonstrating how Falwell and Luff contributed to its history); Dr. Falwell's funeral. Speaking in front of the Trade Center (Liberty Park) to hundreds of American Phillapianos two days before the attack. Meeting various international leaders (i.e. President of Kenya) and denominatioanl leaders.

Ministry: Founding and developing the CYM at Southern Seminary/Boyce College with a team of four professors, support staff, budget, and a dedicated building. This year, in addition to graduating undergratuate/graduate students, we graduated three more Ph.D youth Ministry Students.

Q10: Married 38 years, Becky and I continue, to this day, doing what we sensed called us to do in 1970. I have taught YM courses, without interruption, since 1978 at Liberty, Lexington Baptist, and now at Southern Seminary/Boyce College. Currently, In Louisville, KY,I serve as the Executive Director of the International Center for Youth Ministry (CYM), Associate Dean, and Professor of Youth Minitry. Hosting hundreds, I've traveled to 21 different countries and assisted in the development of nine (9) CYMs overseas. The SBTS/Boyce core curicullum is now translated into the languages of these countries' CYMs.

Bob Miller

Q1: Bob Miller

Q2:

Q3: Forest, Virginia

Q4: Self-employed

Q5: Debi (Ivins) Miller - the love of my life!

Q6: Andrea (1983) is married to Brandon Webb - they live in Lynchburg and have a child, Bentley (our first grandchild).
Alyssa (1984) is married to Jason Pantana - they live in Nashville where Alyssa is a nurse and Jason (with Josh, his twin) are writing and recording.
Amanda (1989) is married to Kenny Pate - they live in Lynchburg where Amanda is a pastry chef (owns OMySugar.com) and Kenny teaches aviation at Liberty.
Alydia (1991) is a freshman at Liberty.

Q7: Favorite memories of Gordon are seeing him work at Scaremare, traveling on the road, and listening to him share his vision! The other area of his life has been his commitment to his calling and the ability to endure difficult times. My favorite quote is that "leadership is lonely at the top".

Q8: The greatest impact of Gordon's ministry has been meeting my wife, Debi. Although we both are products of YA, it was at different times in the ministry.
Also, I would have to say that the ability to endure challenges and difficulties without giving up has had a tremendous impact on my life.
Today, God has blessed us with leading a ministry of prayer for my pastor each week, an opportunity to write, and the chance to work with young church planters. God is good.

Q9: This whole life is an adventure . . . We have had three major crisis points in our lives. One was leaving vocational ministry after going through a devasting church situation in Los Gatos, California. God had allowed us to go through the proverbial wringer and we were done. We still loved ministry . . . we were just not going to recieve a paycheck anymore from a church. Two, twelve years ago, Debi and I faced a crisis point in our relationship. Through mistakes and errors, we were faced with ceasing our relationship or continuing through pain and rebuilding. We chose to rebuild . . . and I am so thankful we did. The grace of God has allowed us to build a marriage that is stronger and dependent on Him. We celebrated 27 years together in 2009. Third, during the past three years, we have faced an incredible challenge with my dad. Through circumstances and challenges, he has ceased having a relationship with us, his grandchildren and his great-grandson. Although he will not talk with me and no longer allows me to call him dad . . . I still reach out to him every day. Since March of 2009, I have written and mailed him a thank you note everyday. I have thanked him for major lessons that he has taught me and simple fun times we have shared. It is my way of talking with him each day and building a bridge of love.
Q10: Debi and I are so thankful for our family and the way God continues to bless. He is a good God!

Tom Turley

Q1: Tom Turley

Q2:

Q3: Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil

Q4: missionary

Q5: Diana Murphy Turley

Q6: Joshua - son -26
Jessica - daughter-in-law (age undisclosed)
Charity Maria - daughter - 8 (yeh, go ahead and laugh...she is a blessing)
Hayden - grandson - 2

Q7: I was selected, in first round of auditions, to be a part of the LBC Chorale, ROAD TEAM, when there was an abrupt change of leadership. Gordon took over the audition process and called in the three of us that were selected in that first round. His quote to me was, "I would have never selected you, so it must be God that wants you." Well, I'm glad God wanted me.

Then, on the way to Nashville to cut our album, I was standing next to Gordon's seat when "Crud" took a curve a little sharpe, and I sat right in Gordon's lap. I was trying to get up, when I heard that gruff voice yell, "Are you going to sit here all night?" I'm sure there are other quotes that marked my life, but these two REALLY marked my life in that first year.

Later, in S.Korea, when YA stayed an extra day to cover a big concert date for us (I was in SMITE, and our flight from Manila to Soeul was cancelled so we were way delayed) Gordon called our group to the front at the end of that concert, having arrived straight from the airport. YA was already on stage, we walked up, Gordon grabbed me by the arm, shoved me between Penny Knutson and Diana Murphy, and said, "You sing here!" That's all I remember of that concert. He probably said lots of other things, but I didn't hear a thing. Little did he know, that that was the moment I was waiting for. I was in love with Diana, and no one else knew it. Diana even recalls that it was that moment that she actually looked at me and said, "wow!"

Q8: Gordon's example in life ...his personal life with Dottie, his kids, his passion for youth, his love for God.
As a missionary, working with teams of youth, singing teams in Brazil, and working at a youth camp for 14 years...I was, am, and will continue to be influenced by Gordon Luff.

Q9: Penny Knutson married David Hatcher, a pastor in Brazil. It was this contact that got us to work together for 14 years in the same church, there. I had the joy of working with Penny to teach some music groups some of our old YA/Smite music. Penny's husband, David, wrote a disciplship book called "One With God." The passion for God that I learned while at LBC, coupled with the discipleship training I received, and later taught in Brazil, helped transform my life.

Q10: Thank you Gordon Luff, for not sending me packing, even though you would not have selected me, and thank you for putting me between Penny Knutson and Diana Murphy for that one last song in S. Korea.
Diana and I are still "singing" together, 30 years to the the date of that encounter.

Need to read all the above to understand this section.
