Q4: Crosspurpose International/Church Ministries Staff, Director of Women's Ministries (81/2 yrs.), Worship Leader/Music Ministry(10 yrs)

Q7: When we sang, Gordon frequently pointed to his heart to encourage us to exhibit passion and real communication of the message (by instinct, I have found myself over the years pointing to my heart for the same reason when leading various groups; "Everything rises and falls on leadership"; I was encouraged in class by Gordon's many references to Henrietta Mears, a woman who made an important spiritual impact during her lifetime.

Q8: My life has been affected by the many opportunities of service that Gordon allowed a young kid from Georgia to experience.

While Gordon always stressed doing things well in ministry, he also was one who applied the verse "be ready in season and out"...you never knew when he might point to you and mouth the words, "You sing this verse" while the song was already in progress!

A summer serving in a church in California, working in a youth camp in PA, traveling on buses to Pittsburg for school rallies and traveling with the LBC Choral "back in the day"...these are just some of the experiences at LBC now LU that helped shape, season and prepare me for the past 30+ years. My thanks to Gordon and Dottie for their patience, care and training of so many of us.

Q9: Too many to name...and He's still at it!

Q7: "Quit acting like a dunkey" I heard that more than most I think.

Q8: I was fortunate enough to know Gordon and Dottie for several years before he went to TRBC. He was my Youth Director in Anaheim, Ca. before he started Lassen Pines (then called Lassen Conference Grounds).

Gordon always showed a lot of patience with me, I just didn't realize how much nor was appreciative enough at the time. One time in particular was when a friend and I just showed up in Redding, with no notice and basically said, "here we are". Of course Gordon took us in and put us to work at the camp. Looking back, it was a lot of fun and a lot of hard work.

I remember when Jerry called Gordon and asked him to come to Lynchburg. I don't believe Gordon, had any intention of leaving Redding, but went to visit TRBC anyway. As we all know Jerry could be very persuasive and Gordon and Dottie came back to announce they were going to Lynchburg. I was very surprised, knowing how much Gordon loved Lassen Pines and the mountains. But little did anyone know then, that this was the birth of a miracle that years later would occupy another mountain, almost 3000 miles away, in Lynchburg, Va.

A year after the Luff family went to Lynchburg, I decided to go see what all the excitement was all about in this little Virginia town, that I was watching on TV every week. So, I loaded up my meager earthly goods and drove to Lynchburg.

There, I met my wife Pamela, and had the best years of my life. To this day, I reminisce about those early days and would trade them for nothing this side of Heaven. What a privilege to be a part of the beginning of LU and YA, and God used Gordon and Dottie in a major way to influence my life in that direction.

Q9: I remember the time we went to Pittsburg and sang at some of the local high schools. We were sponsored by Y.O.U. and stayed downtown on Charles St. for a few nights and slept on the floor. Most of us were scared to death, there were bars on the doors, windows and we were not in the best part of town. This was my first experience in working with inner-city youths and made a real impact on me. I will never forget that time.

Q7: "Time to get on the bus"
"Let's Pray" ... "Let's Eat"...
"Be prepared for me to call on you for a
testimony!"
Letting us know what Lovely outfits we
were wearing for that particular day...
Favorite Memory? The whole Australia trip, the bus breaking down across Country, Mark Lowry and his laugh and jokes. I loved hearing "Sound Edition" play and they were so much fun to be around! Many, many more memories, enough to write a book! :)

Q8: Wow... 30 years of memories and songs that stick close to my heart even today.
Favorite songs that we sang: "He's Alive", "I'd rather have Jesus", "Something Beautiful".
The many souls we witnessed to and sang to, the friends we made along the way, and knowing that the same songs we performed 30 years ago, still apply and hold us steady today. Gordon and Larry had a passion for the youth and the lost and God used them to plant seeds. Now we can see many wonderful results through testimonies, churches being planted, speakers, writers, good Christian parents, and leaders.

Q9: Many ways... "Walking through the darkness, yet standing firm in God's word while coming back out into the light.
Knowing that no matter what, He is in control and is with us always, with unconditional love.
Also, Opportunites to travel throughout the years,"Women of Faith" conferences, worked in Christian Television, and reconnecting with people from Liberty and YA. God is good.

Q10: Thank you Gordon, Larry, and team for the time we spent together and the wonderful memories.

Q7: I was a new student at LBC starting it's 3rd year in existence. The student enrollment had jumped from 300 to 1100-1200 from spring to fall. Most upper classmen had been given permission to live off campus due to a lack of space. So the atmosphere around campus was gloom after just a few days because 90% were homesick. Gordon approached me about taking a trip to Pittsburg, as Youth Aflame had an invitation to do some public school assemblies. You must have noticed I was discouraged and needed a lift and the timing could not have been better. You put a ragtime group of students together along with Robbie Hiner and we attacked the schools. Your personal encouragement from that trip and your future invitation to join Youth Aflame Singers birthed in us a fire we could not get away from. We start our 27th year of ministry next month.

Q8: It gave us a platform for ministry and our livelihood for the past 26 years. We are a direct result of those early days of an action oriented curriculum.

Q9: In those early days of ministry we left Lynchburg to move to California with new babies, and left salaried positions for total financial support. We went from making almost half the money to double the expense. We watched God provide in supernatural ways, then. He was teaching us to live by faith.

Also, My dad and son's near death experiences back in 1998 and 2007 were other life-changing moments for me.

Q10: Not everyone's career is so directly affected by what they learned or did in college...but our's was a direct result. We have witnessed over 90,000 decisions for Christ as a result of this platform of ministry. We say this very humbly and with grateful hearts. Thank you for your investment in us...we were the least likely candidates to have had this privilege.

Q7: "Everything rises and falls on leadership". I enjoyed driving truck, and bus, running sound, and helping with conferences and concerts. My years in Dallas gave me many unique experiences and stories to tell.

Q8: Some experiences in Dallas prepared me to think through how to and not to operate a business of my own, how to treat people fairly, and the importance of integrity.

Q9: God has taught me to be sensitive to others around me. HE allows me, almost every day, to have a conversation with an unfamiliar person about God's love and what HE's doing for me.

Q10: I grew up in Chillicothe, OH. My parents were on the board for Youth Outreach which hosted Youth Aflame for 4 years during the month of April. It was a pleasure to see Christian young people coming to our town, schools, and churches to minister. The impact is still evident in Chillicothe.

Q2: Clayton

Q3: Dallas, TX

Q4: Human Resources Professional-Corporate Trainer & Consultant

Q5: Robert Cousineau

Q6: Stepdaughter: Renee
Step grandchildren: Michael & Timothy

Q7: Some of my fondest memories of Gordon are:

•He was the best grammar teacher I ever had. “Where are we at?” was not acceptable.

•Warming-up vocally and spiritually before concerts. Teaching us the importance of having our hearts in-tune with the Lord before we could minister to others.

•I can see him now…as he directed us in song…pointing to his heart, eyes closed and tears streaming down his face, singing along with us in worship to God.

•Not making eye contact with Gordon so he wouldn’t ask you to give a testimony. Well, that didn’t work. He wouldn’t let you get away with that. He would have your singing partner elbow you. He would get your attention one way or another!

Q8: Little did I know 'then' the impact that Gordon’s ministry would have on my future career. But God did!

My ministry is to the marketplace. Gordon’s leadership model impacted the positions that I’ve had as a leader working for companies like, Southwest Airlines and Citigroup…and now in my own business, going into companies and organizations to teach leadership principles to senior leaders, managers and frontline employees, helping them to reach their full potential.

Thank you Gordon, for being a great mentor to me. I’m so thankful you were obedient to God and you were right where you were suppose to be back in the 70’s! Your faithfulness enriched my life.

Q9: Through the years I’ve struggled with the question, “God, what’s my purpose?”. Then one day I was reading a passage of scripture I had read many times and God switched on the light bulb and I realized THIS IS IT! It was so simple! Philippians 3:10 “That I may know Him”. That is my purpose! I quit looking for the next big thing around the corner…a promotion, relationship or life event that would validate my existence. In every season of my life, no matter what the circumstance, if I seek to know as much about Jesus Christ as I possibly can, He will show me through His word, lead me in the right direction and use my life to influence someone along the way. It was so freeing!!

Q10: I am looking forward to seeing everyone in September! :)

Q7: His passion and him leading us in "Get all excited". His passion stirred me to be a champion for Christ.

Q8: I wanted to be right in the heart of where God is working. I never want my relationship with my Lord to be stale!

Q9: So many! Facing cancer for myself and for my husband Paul. Heart disease and 2 heart attacks for my husband. A daughter who went through a divorce because of an abusive man while we both were in ministry and a deacon board who ask us to leave because we supported our daughter. During that dark time, I'll never forget Jerry Falwell's supportive words to us, "send her to Libery and I'll find her a husband." Well, sure enough, she did find one at Liberty. A wonderful godly man. they are in full time ministry in Az. The grief and pain made us strong and even more dependent on my Lord. From there Paul started New Life Community church and I continued as Ex. Dir. of 3 Crisis Pregnancies Center. The miracles are countless! The salvations are many and the babies saved from abortion are hundreds! To God be the glory great things He has done!

Q7: I can't say I have a favorite memory...just being able to work with Gordon & Dottie and learn from the best has certainly changed our lives. Our entire time at Liberty was great and we feel the "hands on" experiences certainly helped prepare us. Quote-"Servantship comes before Leadership"

Q8: Gordon cast a vision thru Youth Aflame that we never dreamed possible . We were stretched and Gordon allowed us to see the impossible accomplished thru teamwork, hardwork, and believing in ourselves. He taught us that if God was in it...it could be done!

Q9: Thru Gordon, Dottie, and Jerry, we learned the basic blocks to build our lives. It's been 35 years and we're still using those principles every day. The players have changed along the way, but the basics remain the same: faith in God, teamwork, hardwork and the belief that it can be done.

Q10: We're looking forward to rekindling old friendships and sharing stories of "the good ole days"!!

Q9: Life itself has been an adventure filled with much happiness and heartache. God began teaching me hard lessons when He took my only brother home to heaven when I was barely 21 years old. Since that time He has continued to teach me life is a journey sustained by faith, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and guided by His unseen Hand. My joy isn't based on circumstances but rather on the joy I find in and through serving Christ. He has blessed my life in so many ways and have been honored to serve TRBC in Women's Ministry. This has been one area of my journey I continue to be amazed by the great and mighty God I serve.

Q4: Missions Mentor for CrossWorld

Q5: Kim (Davidson) Halsey

Q6: Children: Amber, Curtis, Katie, Caleb

Q7: I remember walking out of Youth classes pumped up and ready to tackle about anything. I knew I was at the most exciting place on earth and being prepared to help young people be all that they could be for God's glory.

Q8: Although I never really carried on conversations with Gordon personally as a student I know God had our lives intersected at a very influential time in my life. His life, passion, and words impacted me as a mentor and challenged me to expect more of myself and not make excuses.

Q9: Gordon allowed me as a youth major to align myself for two years with SMITE. For that I am thankful. After graduation in 1981 what God had place in my heart for both young people and missions led Kim and me to the Philippines for 14 years of wonderful youth ministry on a missionary team. After 10 more years with CrossWorld back in Philadelphia as the Short Term Missions Coordinator we have now moved back to Lynchburg to mentor missions-minded students for effective long-term missionary service through CrossWorld. I never thought I would be living in Lynchburg again, but it seems that God wants us to finish the race right back here where it started. God has been so faithful and gracious to Kim and me over the years.

Q10: For any of us with children, the absolutely most important youth ministry we will ever be involved in is our ministry to them. My wife Kim has been a wonderful wife and mother for the past 28 years. She is now an educational therapist with NILD at LCA.
Amber graduated from LU and is a video editor.
Curtis is a private pilot, got married to a terrific young woman named Kristi this summer and I got to perform the wedding!
Katie is going to CVCC here in Lynchburg.
Caleb is at Marines boot camp in Parris Island SC this summer '09 and striving for the Iron Man award.
By God's grace all our children are walking with the Lord.

Megan -18
Randy - 15

Q7: His consistency, commitment to prayer, concern for each team member and dependence on our Lord. I can't remember seeing Gordon give in to pressure. I do recall that he was a bit upset with me when I chose to climb those MANY stairs in a pyramid in Egypt. I'd had a car accident days before our leaving for Israel (driving Jack Andrews car) and was in a neck brace. It was just another way for him to show his concern for me.

Q8: It was foundational to seeing a leader in my life who accepted me for who I was, encouraged me in the Lord and challenged me to deepen my relationship with the Saviour. The fact that he and Dottie still serve Jesus with all their being does not surprise me in the least!

Q9: Our adoptions of Susie at 7, Megan at 7 (a year after Susie) and Randy at 5. God-chosen gifts to us. Each had emotional baggage and pain that we could never understand but "Jesus knew all about their sorrow..." And - His grace gave us the wisdom to love them and point them to Jesus! He knows their futures and we trust they will all follow HIM!

Q10: I would LOVE to be with you all at the reunion. Susie's wedding (8/15) is so close that we don't believe another trip so soon after that big day will be possible. I'm grateful for the love, prayers and support I received during my years with LBC. May the Lord bless and encourage you all on that special weekend.

Q7: "Everything rises and falls on leadership" and if you are going to represent the Lord's ministry it better be with excellence. Gordon made me believe that I could impact others lives.

Q8: I give honor to Gordon for awakening my heart toward youth ministry. Before Liberty I was brought up in a church that looked down upon females and youth! When I came to Liberty I did not believe the Lord could use me in any significant way.
After watching Gordon and the other Youth leaders I realized they placed value on both, guys & girls. After working with Word of Life clubs,I embraced the calling of being a leader.

Q9: While reading the Word, the Lord emphasised Psalm 68:20 to me. I knew it was a verse that I would minister to someone. Seven days later my mom had a massive heart attack. I spent all day seeking the Lord whether it was her time to "go home". The doctors called the family to come because she was not going to make it through the night. On the way to the hospital the Lord spoke to my heart that He had given me His Word already. I went in and my mom was turning a deep orange, all her organs were failing. Just as the Lord showed me I began to pray that scripture over my mom. I was not concerned about what others thought, I wanted to see God's power. The Lord raised her up from a death bed and everyone knew it was a miracle. Now I have a boldness to believe the Lord for seemingly impossible situations.

Q10: My husband and I minister together. I never thought I would marry a pastor. After all, I don't play the piano or lead a choir! We just purchased a "social hall" complex, we are keeping the bar area to have coffee house so the community can see that believers are approachable. The Pgh.Post Gazette contacted us to do an article, they thought it was unique for a church to buy a "bar".There have been many church buildings turned into bars and restaurants, we thought it was time to turn that around! We plan to do it all first class Gordon!

Q7: I was in the high school YA Basketball League playing on a team with Gordon's boys. During a timeout close to the end of the game Gordon wraps his arm around me and says (with tremendous passion, belief, and urgency), "the whole game depends on you!" I had been on the bench most of the game.. I thought he was crazy until I get in at the end of the game.. I had so much confidence I made the winning shot. I'll never forget that moment! My whole life I have tried to mimic that quality.. to be a person who would believe in the underdog, the bench kid.. I have seen many bench kids make winning shots in life.. thanks Gordon!!

Q8: When Gordon dies it will take 15 years for his heart to quit.. no one has more passion! Every kid needs to know that someone on the planet believes in what they can be.. understanding the potential of a kid makes you say, "Down with the winnie roast and up with the steak fry"!

Q9: Hmmm.. I am a recovering "Legalist" Its funny how being confronted with your own sinfulness can do that. The world, and often the church, takes what's broken and trashes it.. while God is irrestibly drawn to it. I'm broken and God is crazy about me! God's GRACE leaves me speechless!!

Q10: Most of you guys don't know me.. I was just a silly high school kid when you were in your hey day.. I even hesitated to register because of this.. wow that was embarrassing to admit. But I was shaped by many of the names on this list so I am coming.. to look many of you in the eye and say "thanks" ..I also want to get out of Alabama for a few days :) See you there!

Q7:

Q8: In my opinion, Gordon had the vision to forge a new ministry paradigm that confronted the thinking of generations of traditionalist ministry mentalities. He challenged the conventional thinking that the youth ministry is training grounds for Sr. Pastors by forging a new ministry concept that the Youth Pastor's calling is equal to and not subordinate in importance to the Sr. Pastor. This was revolutionary.

Q9: The on going adventure that I am currently walking. In Feb 2008 my business partner and I placed under contract 44 acres of a pristine bayfront property with the objective of developing high end residential homes in Bay Co FL. Who knew what was to happen in the financial markets by the end of the year.

After having well over $100,000 invested we pursued financing through hedge funds who were to fund the acquisition and development to the tune of $45,000,000. By June the Hedge Fund denied our funding closed their doors and the fund collapsed. We pursued another and that one collapsed in Dec '08.

After a period of depression in early 2009, I sought the Lord in a 21 day fast, seeking answers. Through these deep waters, He comforts me, assures me and teaches me more about faith, obedience and trust like never before. In addition, revolutionized my view on finances.

God's most recent revelation to me (July 09) is He knows all about it, He understands my dilemma and told me NOT TO worry about it and STOP worrying about it! This was transformational!

Currently a group of European investors are reviewing the project and may consider funding the deal. PLEASE JOIN ME IN PRAYER THAT THEY WILL FUND THE DEAL! God's will be done!

Q10: I am so excited to get reacquainted with everyone. I can't wait to see and hear all what God hath wrought.

Chris Hinkle

Q1: Chris Hinkle

Q2:

Q3: Plano, Texas

Q4: Media Ministry

Q5: Kathleen Jan Millhouse Hinkle

Q6: Rachel Elisha Hinkle (17 yrs. old)

Q7: I really spent more time with Dennis Henderson. Dennis was the first to understand my strengths and encouraged me and showed me how to use those strengths.

Q8: Dennis' ministry to me helped me in the ministry God lead me to.

Q9: God has given us many adventures these past 32 years. Every time He leads me back into the secular work place it is to prepare me with the skills needed to minister to the next church He leads us too.

Q10: God has blessed us so much. From the days at Liberty where Don Jennings gave me the audio bug, to the many doors God has opened up for us through the years. From working at Walt Disney World to the Radio and Television Commission of the SBC. We had the great opportunity to work for First Baptist Church Dallas with Dr. W.A Criswell to my lifetime pastor Dr Jim Henry at First Baptist Church Orlando. In 1996 we were lead to serve as Technolgy Manager for the Olympic Stadium Cluster at the 96 Olympics in Atlanta, Ga.. After the Olympics we worked on the Engineering staff that designed Universal Studios "Islands of Adventure". All that prepared me to work for the First Baptist Church of Woodstock, with pastor Dr. Johnny Hunt. We left FBC Woodstock to help family with aging parents and worked once again for Walt Disney World as the Park Audio Specialist for MGM Studios. We are presently at Prestonwood Baptist Church and really enjoying our service here.
With all that the greatest miracle we have is our daughter Rachel. Rachel who at 11 years old was dignosed with a very deabillatating decease has worked hard these past 6 years and is now a USTA nationally ranked tennis player. She loves the Lord and gives him the glory for the miracle he has done in her life. Last of all thanks Youth Aflame for giving me the opportunity to serve and learn.
God be with you,
Chris

Q7: Long conversations on the bus about life and ministry while traveling to the next place.

Q8: Gordon modeled perseverance and dedication to a cause. We have learned that life is a marathon, not a sprint, and that these two qualities are essential if you are going to be successful and please God.

Q9: Working in an industry that isn't always considered "Christ-friendly, " God has taught us that personal faith in Him AND personal commitment to one another cannot be taken for granted.

Q10: We travel extensively with our production. We have had a great time meeting up with people while on tour. We hope our paths will continue to cross and we looking forward to seeing people "somewhere on the road." You can find out all you need to know about us at www.SpencersMagic.com.

Q7: I didn't know Gordon very well while I was at Liberty. They changed leadership of the LBC Road Chorale (Singers) right before I sang with them in 77/78 and then I joined the Enspalms under David Randlett. Then when I heard about a group of folks heading to Texas to begin a youth work, I talked briefly with Gordon and he invited me to come along. Wow, what a change that made in my life! I attended Marsh Lane Baptist Church with everyone else there and it was during that time that I met Dianne, whose brother Gerry was part of the group from Lynchburg. So I would have to say that although I didn't know Gordon real well, he facilitated the best move that I ever made! So thanks, Gordon!

Q8: Gordon's passion is what always struck me. Even watching from a distance in Lynchburg, Gordon was always enthusiastic, a bit scary, but always passionate. I have attempted to display that life of passion for Christ to my children and have watched as they grow to love Jesus, serve Him in missions, and make godly decisions.

Q9: I have been involved in leading music since prior to Liberty and this passion led me in various direction, including moving from PA to Lynchburg to Rockwall,TX. Time does not permit telling the whole story, but after Texas, I was called to be the worship leader at a church in Bend, OR. It was during the first two years in Oregon that God broke me completely, in every area of my life, my wife and I, with 7 children at the time and with one on the way, (which was nearly always the case with us) lost everything, my health,(diagnosed with a heart disease) my job, our home, our 'stuff', and we were reduced to utter homelessness. I nearly lost Dianne and a baby girl who was born in the backseat of a stationwagon, under tremendous distress. But during that birth, in the midst of all of our physical, emotional, financial and spiritual struggle, God spoke to my heart, CLEARLY, and promised that as He had just delivered my baby girl, there in that car, He would deliver our family. Over the next 6 years in Oregon He restored that which the enemy had stolen and beyond. My wife and I, along with our children were bonded together in a very special way as we walked through this wilderness, being tested to know what was in our heart, preparing us for a good land! We moved back to my home state of PA ten years ago and we have been worship leaders of the same church since then. We faced another attack 5 years ago when we were told by the doctors that our son Sean had a brain tumor. Our faith that was developed during our wilderness gave us strength to go through that time and God delivered our son who will now enter Liberty this fall! Praise God!

Q10: It was a step of faith for me to tell my folks I was leaving Lynchburg and heading with Gordon to Rockwall. But, I would say that that was just another way that the Lord prepared me for the leaps of faith that I would face in the future. From our wedding day at Marsh Lane Baptist, in which many of you participated or attended, our journey has been much like anyone who has a desire to love and serve Jesus, with testings and blessings, trials and triumphs, costs and rewards! One of the most thrilling things to me is for me to look back over 28 years of marraige, and with all these "arrows" of blessings, how God has provided. King David said, "I was young and now I am old, but I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their seed begging for bread." Through the years God has led me to trust Matt.6:33 telling me to seek Him and His righteousness and ALL these things will be added unto me. I have not always been a faithful seeker, but He has always been a faithful God. If you'd like to contact us please do so at dznblessings@juno.com. You may notice that we didn't upgrade our email name after the birth of our last, and I do mean last, 13th blessing, our daughter, Maggie. But she is truly a real blessing! Sorry I rambled, God bless you all.
